Curriculum Vitae of dr Marek Głogoczowski

Born on July 17 1942 at Zakopane, Poland I graduated in physics at the Jagiellonian University, Cracow in 1965. After leaving Poland due to students events of 1968 I obtained the second Master (M.A.) degree in geophysics at the University of California, Berkeley, USA in 1969. Before becoming a professional philosopher I specialized in solid state physics, geophysics, evolutionary biology, history of science and history of religious thought. I’ve worked as a teaching and research assistant at Academy of Mines at Cracow (1966-67), University of Copenhagen (1968-69), University of California (1970-72) Ecole Polytechnique de Lausanne (1974-75). In 1979 I had a French Government scholarship at Laboratoire d’Evolution des Etres Organisés at University Paris VII.

In April 1982 I've managed to returned from my 'political exile' back to Poland, hoping to find means of economical survival, as "scientifically unwelcome" researcher in bio-sciences. Since 1997 I work as an assistant, than lecturer and senior lecturer in philosophy at the Pomeranian Academy of Pedagogy at Slupsk, Poland. In January 2003 I received a doctoral degree in Human Sciences at the University of Silesia in Katowice.

In-between my scientific and philosophical occupations I participated in several alpinist expeditions in Alaska, Peru, Afghanistan, Pamir and Himalayas, and I remain the still active mountain climbing instructor (more details at www.extreme-sport.pl rubric “ludzie”).

A separate part of my activities is linked with literature, both “belles lettres” and scientific one. I published my first socio-political essays at Polish emigrant revue “Kultura” at Paris in 1971, than (especially after return to Poland in 1982) I collaborated (and occasionally collaborate) with several Polish (“Kultura”, “Polityka”, “Przeglad”, “Obywatel”, etc.) and foreign (“Fundamenta Scientiae” Oxford, “Forward” and “Teshreen” Damascus, “Balkan-Infos” Paris, “Worlds Affairs” Delhi, etc.) revues. Since 1992 I am a member of Polish Literary Union, Cracow’s Division.

I am an author of about 200 essays and scientific dissertations, and an active participant of several internationally important conferences, in particular “Mut zur Ethik” Congress, organised annually in September at Feldkirch, Austria, Round Table of Jamahir Society for Philosophy and Culture at Vienna, and World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations”, which held its last meeting at Rhodes, Greece in Sept. 2003. (See www.wpfdc.com ). I write usually in Polish, but I’ve published quite a number of texts written directly in English, as well as in French, Russian and even Slovakian. Several my essays were translated and published in Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian, French, Serbian and Slovakian newspapers, revues, and at important international websites.
